Maximized speed and endurance
Elevated strength and power
Enhanced energy levels and overall wellness
Altitude training, also known as hypoxic training, involves exercising in, living in or otherwise breathing oxygen reduced air for the purpose of improved athletic performance, pre-acclimatization to altitude and/or physical wellness.
Traditionally, individuals had to travel to or live at high elevations to obtain the benefits of this phenomenon. Circa 1995, the patented technology of Hypoxico Inc. eliminated this hardship by allowing high altitude training facilities to be set up anywhere. Even sleeping at altitude can be simulated in an altitude tent.
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Mie University Graduate School of Medicine, Tsu City, Mie Prefecture, Japan, published an interesting article on how Hypoxia increases muscle hypertrophy induced by resistance training. PURPOSE: Recent studies have shown that low-intensity resistance training with vascular occlusion (kaatsu training) induces muscle hypertrophy. A local hypoxic environment facilitates muscle hypertrophy during kaatsu training. We postulated that muscle hypertrophy...
